  • Is beef Tallow actually good for your skin?
No matter if your skin is excessively dry, highly sensitive, excessively oily, or a combination of these, tallow has versatile benefits. From calming irritated skin to moisturizing severely dry skin, and even aiding in balancing oil levels in oily or acne-prone skin, it serves multiple purposes.
  • Is Tallow a new skincare product?
No! It has been used for centuries and was the original skincare product. We have strayed so far from our roots and tallow brings us back to embracing the healing wisdom of our ancestors. We have incorporated superior ingredients to create a nourishing, hydrating healing balm for all your skincare needs.
  • How is Truly Tallow sourced?
Experience the purity of our tallow, sourced exclusively from 100% grass-fed and grass-finished cows. At our core, we prioritize delivering premium products that uphold ethical and sustainable values. Hand-rendered from cows raised on open pastures and nourished with a natural diet of grass and hay, our tallow boasts rich nutrients and is free from harmful chemicals commonly found in conventionally raised cattle. Our meticulous sourcing and production methods reflect our unwavering dedication to quality, ensuring that our products shine with excellence.
  • Can I use Tallow on my face?
Yes, you can use tallow on your face. In fact, tallow has been used as a skincare ingredient for centuries. Tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are all beneficial for maintaining healthy skin. It also contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe irritated skin. We recommend our Unblemished blend, which is specially formulated to be used on your face.
  • I have oily skin, is tallow the right choice for me?
Absolutely! Truly Tallow’s tallow-based skincare products are actually perfect for oily skin. Tallow has a similar structure to the natural oils produced by our skin, making it an ideal moisturizer for oily skin types. While tallow is deeply moisturizing, it also helps regulate oil production, making it great for rebalancing oily skin. In addition, tallow contains a variety of beneficial nutrients and vitamins that can help improve the overall health and appearance of oily skin. Our carefully formulated products at Truly Tallow are designed to cater to all skin types, including oily skin, providing natural, nourishing care without clogging pores. We do recommend using our Face specific Unblemished.
  • I have sensitive skin (eczema, psoriasis, sensitive/dry cracked skin). Will tallow help?
Yes! Tallow is an excellent ingredient for those with sensitive skin. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids, which can help to nourish and repair damaged skin. Tallow is also very similar in composition to human skin, which means that it is easily absorbed and won't clog pores. It is particularly helpful for those with eczema, psoriasis, or sensitive/dry cracked skin, as it can help to soothe and heal these conditions.
  • Why does my tallow feel grainy/beady?
Since Tallow is a natural product, there are multiple factors that can affect the texture of the final product. This can include the storage temperature and can even include temperature fluctuations during shipping (though this does not affect the quality!). Even the environment (sunlight, seasons, and type of grass) can affect the final texture. These are factors that we cannot alter without adding harmful, synthetic chemicals. Ultimately, the texture does not alter any of the healing benefits! Grass-finished tallow has a very similar composition to wax, meaning it hardens and then melts at body temperature. If the graininess bothers you, simply warm the product in your hands before applying to the skin. It will melt with your body heat and become silky smooth! Another other option is to melt it down completely in a double broiler and then allow it to harden again on the counter or in your fridge and rewhip it, and it will go right back to it's smooth texture. Having a grainy texture does not change any of the properties or healing benefits of the tallow balm!
